I have had the pleasure to work with some of the Garden Route’s best vendors and I want you to get to know some of my favourites I like to work with.
Today I want to introduce Bianca of Flawless Makeup by Bianca. She is an amazing makeup artist who also is the owner of a well renowned beauty salon in the Garden Route. I’ve put together a Q&A so you can get to know her a bit better.
Tell us a bit more about yourself and your business
Just a normal girl with a “not so normal” love and obsession with all things Make Up and Beauty related. I love everything about being a woman, but most of all I love that through my work as a Professional Make Up Artist, I get to work with, be inspired and empowered by other women and their stories. My reason for doing is to enable each and every woman who sits in my chair to see herself, the way her Creator looks at her, to make her look and feel her most beautiful self. Situated in the heart of the Garden Route, Mossel Bay, I do Professional Make Up for Weddings, Photoshoots, and/or any other special occasion. I also enjoy doing one-on-one Make Up lessons & Make Up workshops.
Name one makeup product you can not live without
Only one??? If I had to choose, it would probably be my Benefit Porefessional Primer. Or my trusty Maybeline Colossal Mascara. Okay that is two products. Hey, a girl’s got to have options.
How long in advance should a bride book her hair and makeup stylist?
I would say anything from 6 months to a 1 year prior to the wedding. It ensures that you book the Make Up Artist that you really want.
How would you describe your signature look?
I am all about a flawless face! I spend a lot of time on perfecting and highlighting the facial features of my client, creating a perfect canvas. Then I’ll finish off the look with a subtle, classic eye, a beautiful set of lashes and a nude, glossy lip.
How long have you been doing makeup and how did you get started?
For about 3 years. I have always loved Make Up but it was while completing my BComm Business degree that I procrastinated by watching hours and hours of YouTube tutorials and realized that Make Up is what I actually want to do for a living. I signed up for a course with Alicia Buckle School of Hair and Make Up and haven’t looked back!
How do you stay inspired?
By learning from, aspiring to, rather than comparing myself to, other Make Up Artists.
How much time should brides allow for their makeup in their wedding timeline?
At least an hour to an hour and a half.
If you have one tip to share with brides, what would it be?
Be present. Oh and when it comes to your make up, I think my biggest piece of advise would be, to book a Make Up trial. It ensures that, come your big day, both you and your MUA are fully prepped and confidant in what you want and how you want to look. It also brings an opportunity for you to meet your MUA, as she is ultimately the person that spends a big part of your day with you and your bridal party.
What is the favorite part of being a makeup artist?
My brides. I consider myself so fortunate that a bride would choose me to play even a small part in the most special day of her life. It is such a fulfilling, rewarding feeling and I always leave my weddings with a grateful heart
What should brides stay away from or invest before their wedding?
Invest in GOOD SKINCARE!
Share a random fact about yourself that your clients might not know about.
I actually want (and to be honest, need) that glass of champagne I said no to when you offer! 😉 Just kidding. I think something my clients don’t know about me, is that I have a degree in Business Management, that I have my own business and that I actually worked in Logistics before I became a MUA. Also, I think I am the only MUA that drives a bakkie.
